Sprint considering reintroducing Nextel name for businesses; may merge Virgin, Boost pre-paid brands

According to US technology website TechCrunch, Sprint Corp is considering re-introducing the Nextel branding that was previously used for its now-defunct iDEN network, albeit for business services only. A source close to the company has suggested that the move represents part of a larger branding overhaul scheduled for 1Q14, which will see Sprint merge its existing pre-paid brands Boost and Virgin Mobile, under the ‘Sprint Freedom’ banner.
