MPT inaugurates mobile roaming in Myanmar

State-owned Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) has signed a mobile roaming peering agreement with France’s Orange Group, allowing it to enable roaming on 64 cellular networks in 33 countries. Local site 7-Day News reports that MPT’s move, which is only a trial service at this stage, comes as the former monopoly steels itself to face competition from two privately-owned licence holders later this year.
