Brazilian fixed and mobile operator Telefonica Brazil (Vivo) has selected optical networking solutions provider Coriant to supply it with its intelligent optical transport platform, hiT 7100 OTN/MPLS-TP switch, TNMS and related support services to drive the telco’s network expansion drive and increase capacity in its optical backbone network. Germany-based Coriant’s portfolio of solutions, including 100G optical transport and OTN switching, will enable Vivo to deliver a network that offers enhanced broadband connectivity, while reducing total cost of ownership, it says. Under the deployment, the vendor will deploy its hiT 7300, hiT 7100 OTN/MPLS-TP switch and TNMS, described as a holistic network management system to simplify end-to-end service provisioning and control. The platform is future-proofed for 40/100G coherent technology.
