SingTel Mobile to roll out Ericsson SON optimisation manager in its 3G network

18 Dec 2013

SingTel Mobile, a unit of Singapore Telecom (SingTel), this week announced that it has signed a contract with Ericsson for the deployment of the latter’s self organising network (SON) solution in its 3G W-CDMA networks in the city-state. The Swedish firm’s SON platform reportedly includes self-optimisation features such as coverage capacity optimisation and load balance (CCLB), and automatic neighbour relation (ANR) handling. Further, SingTel Mobile says that the solution will include ‘self-healing’ functionality to automatically compensate for any local network outages by adjusting nearby cell sites to provide an ‘optimal configuration’. As a result, SingTel Mobile users will, it says, benefit from a high performance network with a more consistent user experience, fewer dropped calls and (up to 20%) faster download speeds.
