MOTIV and Tattelecom unveil 4G plans

Russian cellular operator MOTIV has announced that it is to deploy a 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network across the regions of Ekaterinburg, Kurgan, Yugra and Yamal-Nenets. The operator says it is bypassing 3G technology and moving straight from 2G GSM to 4G LTE. Separately, regional operator Tattelecom has revealed that it will deploy 800MHz GSM and LTE base stations in the Tatarstan region over the next two years. Investment in the LTE network will total RUB500 million (USD15.2 million), Telecompaper reports.
