Verizon completes deal for US Cellular assets in Missouri

17 Dec 2013

Verizon Wireless has completed the purchase of wireless assets in rural Missouri from smaller rival US Cellular, in a deal that will expand its network footprint south of St Louis to the counties of Sainte Genevieve, St Francois, and Washington. The purchase includes US Cellular’s 25MHz ‘Missouri-13’ A block licence, as well as customers and related CDMA operations in the market area. The concession and assets being acquired cover a population of 110,000 and approximately 1,700 square miles, including Interstate Highway 55 and state highways US8, US21 and US67. Major population centres include Sainte Genevieve, Potosi, Desloge, and Farmington. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. Going forward, Verizon expects the network integration/upgrade to 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) to be concluded by mid-2014.
