DoT issues Jio 22m numbers

4G startup Reliance Jio Infocomm, the telecoms arm of petrochemical giant Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has been issued 22 million numbers by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) as the operator gears up for its commercial launch, news portal Zeebiz reports. The only operator to acquire pan-India spectrum for 4G services, Jio holds a unified licence, enabling the cellco to provide wireless voice services as well as mobile broadband. The newcomer has recently sped up its network deployment via an infrastructure sharing agreement with the market’s largest wireless provider and only active 4G operator, Bharti Airtel.
