Cyta Hellas enters IPTV market

10 Dec 2013

Cypriot-owned Greek alternative telco Cyta Hellas has launched IPTV channel packages bundled with its fixed internet and telephony services. The new ‘Cytavision’ pay-TV service – already well-established at Cyta’s Cypriot parent telco – began ‘pilot’ operations in Greece on 4 December 2013, with customers able to sign up for ‘3play’ branded triple-play packages at prices starting from EUR19 (USD26) per month, the operator announced in a press release on its website. Cyta Hellas aims to compete with Greece’s existing three IPTV operators OTE, Hellas Online and On Telecoms (including Vivodi) – plus the satellite TV channels of ForthNet/Nova – partly by targeting Cypriots resident in Greece, and it has included its own ‘Cytavision Sports’ channel in its initial basic package. The entry-level 3play package includes a 4Mbps/512kbps (download/upload) ADSL internet connection, while various other triple-play packages range up to a VDSL 50Mbps/10Mbps bundle costing EUR38 per month.
