Telefonica’s Jajah VoIP subsidiary to close in Jan-14

Almost four years after being acquired by Spanish telecoms giant Telefonica for USD207 million, US voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) provider Jajah has announced that it is shutting down on 31 January 2014. Founded in 2005 by Roman Scharf and Daniel Mattes, the company was initially backed with USD33 million in funding from the likes of Sequoia, Intel and Deutsche Telekom’s T-Venture. The company is headquartered in Mountain View, California.
