Telkom FTTH trials ‘proceeding well’

28 Nov 2013

Telkom South Africa hopes to launch commercial fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services by the end of 2014, with ongoing trials of the service said to be returning positive results. According to African technology website Human IPO, the 100Mbps service is currently being trialled with 45 clients, and the testing is said to be ‘proceeding well’. A company representative told the online portal that would-be FTTH subscribers are able to register their interest in the service on Telkom’s website, which the operator will use to help gauge demand for products and services as well as pricing decisions.
