Avantel pledges USD250m to 4G rollout

Colombian digital trunking provider Avantel has announced plans to invest USD250 million on the first stage of the rollout of its 4G network, TeleSemana cites the company’s president Jorge Palacio as saying. The operator, which was awarded 30MHz of airwaves in the advanced wireless spectrum (AWS) band (1700MHz/2100MHz), plans to offer voice, data and corporate applications and will utilise devices from Samsung, Nokia, Huawei and Apple.
