Copaco counts cost as copper cable crime climbs to PYG1bn

State-owned Paraguayan telco Copaco has revealed that it expects the total value of copper cable stolen from its network in 2013 to reach PYG1 billion (USD221,306). The figure was divulged to news daily ABC by Copaco chief executive Rogelio Benitez, with the CEO noting that the telco has stepped up its surveillance activities in a bid to combat the escalating level of cable theft.
