Anatel reports solid 4G growth in October

Brazil’s telecoms industry regulator Anatel has published its latest information on the country’s nascent 4G mobile market, noting there were 730,500 subscriptions in the country at 31 October, and adding that it expects four million people to be using Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology by the end of this year.

Telefonica Brazil (Vivo) continues to lead the way with 293,200 4G users, or 40.1% of the segment, ahead of TIM Brasil with 208,050. Third spot was taken by Claro Brasil, a unit of Mexico’s America Movil, with 148,100 4G users and Oi SA, the subject of a merger with Portugal Telecom, had 80,900.
