3 strengthens southern network

Hi3G Access Sweden (3) has deployed 1,286 base transceiver stations (BTS) in the southern counties of Kronoberg, Kalmar, Blekinge, Skane and Hallan, as part of its upgrade project ,and plans to deploy around 400 more across the regions by next summer, the Hong Kong-owned cellco stated, as quoted by Telecompaper. The statement came ahead of a meeting on 19 November, which was chaired by Kronoberg governor Kristina Alser, with Sweden’s operators and telecoms regulator PTS concerning mobile telephony coverage in the country’s five most southerly counties.
