Quam and get it: Telefonica launches new mobile brand

Telefonica Moviles Argentina, which operates as Movistar, has launched Quam, a new mobile brand aimed at young people aged between 16 and 20 years old. El Cronista reports that the new youth-orientated brand will focus on pre-paid plans and services such as mobile internet, social networking and text messaging. According to the Quam website, plans include ‘Combo Semana’, which costs ARS30 (USD5) and includes a weekly allowance of 3,000 SMS, 25 minutes of talk time and mobile internet access, while ‘Combo Mes’ is priced at ARS90 and comes with 5,000 SMS, 100 minutes and mobile internet access for a period of 30 days. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that Movistar is Argentina’s second largest wireless network operator by subscribers, with around 20.33 million customers at 30 September 2013, just behind market leader Claro with 20.60 million and ahead of Telecom Personal with 19.86 million.
