The international sales and marketing arm of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) plans to launch as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in the United States next year, InterAksyon.com reports. Alex Caeg, president of PLDT Global, told the online portal: ‘We have been in discussions with US partners for quite some time and hopefully [we will be in a position to launch] by early next year’. PLDT Global already offers MVNO services in Hong Kong, Singapore, Guam, Malaysia, Macau, Taiwan and the UK, primarily to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and business customers. ‘We are targeting 300,000 customers by end of the year,’ Caeg added; at present, PLDT Global has around 250,000 users.
