British mobile network operator O2 UK has announced that its 4G network now covers 25% of the UK’s population, just nine weeks after commercial LTE services were launched. In detailing its rollout progress, the cellco said that more than 15 million Britons have access to its 4G infrastructure, with eleven ‘major cities’ covered, along with 90 other towns across the country. Having switched on its network in Manchester last week, O2 UK has also now confirmed that it expects to extend coverage to Edinburgh, Newcastle, Wetherby and Huddersfield ‘in the coming weeks’.
