Telstra to utilise Ericsson’s Diameter Signaling Controller

Australia’s Telstra has inked a deal with Swedish vendor Ericsson under which the latter will provide it with its Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC), which will reportedly enable ‘an efficient long term scalability across [Telstra’s] wireless core network’. With Telstra understood to have selected the Ericsson DSC with a view to expanding its wireless network and meeting the rapid growth in mobile broadband usage, David Robertson, the operator’s Transport and Routing Engineering director, noted: ‘DSC provides a more resilient mobile broadband network. We are deploying this technology to ensure we are ahead of the curve with growth in traffic complexity while delivering superior network performance to our customers.’ Ericsson, for its part, has said that the benefits of implementing its DSC include more robust signaling network architecture, significant CAPEX and OPEX savings, and a reduced risk of malicious IP attacks.
