SeCom speeds up MNP process

7 Nov 2013

Argentina’s communications ministry, Secretaria de Comunicaciones (SeCom), has published Resolution 21/13 which outlines a number of changes to the mobile number portability (MNP) system, aimed at simplifying the porting process and strengthening the rights of consumers. The modifications include a reduction in the maximum time it takes for an MNP request to be processed to five working days, while a single electronic form for all operators has been introduced to make the process more transparent and secure. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that MNP was introduced by the country’s four mobile network operators – Claro Argentina, Telecom Personal, Movistar and Nextel Argentina – in March 2012.
