freenet has announced consolidated group revenue of EUR789.6 million (USD1.06 billion) for the third quarter of 2013, an increase of 4.4% from EUR756.5 million in the year-ago period. Group EBITDA increased slightly from EUR92.5 million in Q3 2012 to EUR92.6 million in the three months ended 30 September 2013, while group net income rose nearly 30% year-on-year to EUR63.6 million. freenet’s mobile communications division saw revenue increase 5.5% year-on-year to EUR781.6 million in 3Q13, while EBITDA for the core segment rose from EUR92.9 million in Q3 2012 to EUR95.1 million twelve months later. At 30 September 2013 freenet’s mobile customer base totalled 13.37 million (down from 14.31 million twelve months earlier), of which 4.70 million were pre-paid customers (compared to 5.93 million in 3Q12), 5.82 million were contract users (up slightly from 5.72 million a year earlier) and the remaining 2.85 million were ‘no-frills’ customers (primarily comprised of mobile contracts completed online in the discount market), up from 2.66 million twelve months previously.
