Conatel reports pay-TV reaches 54% of homes; fixed telephony drops slightly

Venezuelan telecoms regulator Conatel reports in its quarterly bulletin that the country’s pay-TV customers reached 3.9 million at the end of September 2013, up by 800,000 year-on-year, and representing pay-TV penetration of 54%, according to the watchdog’s figures. Fixed telephony lines in service dropped slightly, by 6,000 lines in three months to end the quarter at 7.75 million – breaking the national trend of six consecutive quarters of growth. Conatel added that 53.6% of fixed lines were based on fixed-wireless technology.
