MTN South Africa has switched on its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Bloemfontein, the capital of the Free State province. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, the mobile giant introduced 4G connectivity on 1 December 2012, in Johannesburg, Durban and Pretoria, following a network rollout helmed by Ericsson of Sweden. Going forward, the carrier expects to extend LTE connectivity to other cities and peri-urban areas in due course.
