PLDT’s Sun Cellular brand extends mobile broadband coverage

5 Nov 2013

Sun Cellular, the mobile brand of Digital Mobile Philippines Inc (DMPI), a member of the PLDT group, has confirmed a doubling of mobile broadband coverage in the country. Charles Lim, executive vice president and head of Sun Cellular’s wireless consumer business group, says that the company is working to provide one of the most widely available mobile broadband networks in the country, including its most recent works to expand coverage in new areas, such as Mindanao where a number of provinces have been added to its operational footprint, including Bukidnon, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sarangani and North Cotabato. According to the official, the mobile operator has also extended its reach to areas such as Guimaras, Samar, Masbate, and Siquijor in the Visayas, as well as Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Mindoro, Romblon, and Sorsogon in Southern Luzon. Not content to rest there, Sun Cellular users in the northern part of Luzon will also experience expanded coverage in 14 additional provinces, including Abra, Apayao, Aurora, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, Kalinga, La Union, Mountain Province and Nueva Vizcaya, among others. The carrier’s latest efforts come on top of recent efforts to boost 3G signal coverage in Mindanao, as well as expanding overall coverage in the Visayas region.
