MTN Swazi to launch LTE in 2014

5 Nov 2013

Ambrose Dlamini, CEO of MTN Swaziland, has revealed that the company is preparing to launch a 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in 2014 as part of an overall strategy to improve its service. The Times of Swaziland reports that the cellco has successfully applied for a licence from the Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC). According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, MTN belatedly inaugurated its 3G network in October 2011, after an extended feud with the regulator saw the concession withheld – despite a successful trial period.
