BBNL to connect 250,000 small towns for e-government services

State-owned infrastructure operator Bharat Broadband Network Ltd (BBNL) is planning to extend internet connectivity to 250,000 gram panchayats (village/small town level administrative divisions) by March 2016 to facilitate the provision of e-government services, Hispanic Business reports. The first 100,000 gram panchayats are expected to be connected by next September, with a further 100,000 added by July 2015. The final 50,000 are due to be connected by March 2016.
