NSN, China Mobile renew partnership

Finnish vendor Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) and the China Mobile Research Institute (CMRI), the research and development arm of China Mobile, have expanded their memorandum of understanding (MoU) to continue cooperating on the advancement and standardisation of mobile broadband technologies. Under the renewed MoU the two companies will enhance joint research, standardisation, and prototype development activities in advanced technologies such as 5G, Long Term Evolution (LTE) deployment optimisation, cloud-based radio access network (C-RAN), the ‘Nanocell’ concept for next-generation small cell deployments, the coexistence of 2G/4G platforms and core virtualisation. The partnership revolves around similar expectations for the telecoms market over the next decade, and intends to enable mobile providers to deliver 1GB of data per user per day by 2020.
