1 Nov 2013

US-backed cableco UPC Poland has announced plans for new services and developments for 2014, including over-the-top (OTT) TV and 500Mbps internet, Broadband TV News writes. The operator plans to double the maximum download speed available to users to 500Mbps next year and will begin trialling the service in Warsaw, Krakow, Zakopane and Pultusk before the end of the year: UPC’s EuroDOCSIS3.0 network passes more than 2.5 million homes and currently provides maximum downlink speeds of up to 250Mbps. UPC also plans to develop a range of mobile apps for smartphone and tablet users and will provide TV offerings to mobile devices. Also scheduled for introduction next year is a catch-up TV service, initially for TVP programming but later to be expanded to other channels.
