CaribSat to launch in Guadeloupe on 1 November; Martinique, French Guiana covered by January

New satellite broadband provider CaribSat has announced that its services will go live in Guadeloupe from 1 November 2013, with the company going on to launch in Martinique and French Guiana in January 2014. Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthelemy will also receive coverage, although no launch dates have been specified. Prices will start at EUR29.9 (USD41.1) per month, while the set-up costs, which include the purchase of a 100cm satellite dish and modem, are expected to be partially subsidised by local authorities. CaribSat expects to offer a number of transmission speeds, ranging from 512kbps to 6Mbps.
