Zeop, Le Cable come up trumps in download speed tests

Online portal Degrouptest.com has published its bi-annual ‘barometer’ of download speeds across the French overseas territories, reporting that Reunion-based fibre-optic provider Zeop offered the fastest average downlink transmission speeds as of 1H13, with downloads averaging an impressive 23.5Mbps. Meanwhile, in Guadeloupe and Martinique, Le Cable – which is owned by Luxembourg-based private equity firm Altice Group – beat off stiff competition, with typical speeds of 5.9Mbps and 5.7Mbps, respectively. Elsewhere, ADSL operator Orange clocked speeds of 5.3Mbps in Mayotte, while Outremer Telecom (Only) topped the French Guiana rankings with average download speeds of 4.2Mbps.
