International telecoms firms that failed to secure one of Myanmar’s two new operating licences earlier this year have been invited to bid for a stake in Myanmar Post and Telecommunication (MPT) as part of the nation’s plans to make the incumbent competitive in time for the launch of new entrants Telenor and Ooredoo. The Irish Times writes that Vodafone, Orange and Singapore Telecom (SingTel) are amongst the companies invited to bid to form a partnership with the telecoms arm of MPT.
