Regulator fines Claro, Movistar for breaching concessions

Ecuador’s telecoms regulator Conatel has issued fines to mobile operators Claro and Movistar for breach of their concession contracts, TeleSemana reports. The regulator fined Claro USD119,250 for failing to post details of its ‘Ideal 5VPN Plan’ package on its website, while Movistar must pay USD159,318 for not allowing access to emergency number 171 on a specific date in February in Canton Pichincha, Manabi province.
