BSkyB posts third quarter results

18 Oct 2013

British pay-TV, broadband and fixed voice provider BSkyB has posted revenues of GBP1.843 billion (USD3 billion) for the three months ending 30 September, up 7% on the corresponding period last year, as the number of customers signed up to its high speed broadband services continued to climb. Adjusted EBITDA was flat at GBP392 million, while adjusted operating income slipped 8% to GBP285 million, which the company attributed to ‘the previously announced step-up in Premier League costs and our investments to accelerate take-up of connected services’.

Broadband accesses at the end of September 2013 numbered 5.037 million, representing a 22% increase against the 4.103 million the telco had on its books a year earlier. BSkyB noted that its network footprint had been enhanced over the period, with it now having a presence in 2,323 exchanges as at end-September 2013. Of the company’s broadband subscriber base, 96% are on-net, with 72% of those connecting via BSkyB’s fully-unbundled MPF product.
