VIPnet launches VDSL, other altnets doing same

17 Oct 2013

Croatian quadruple-play operator VIPnet, part of the Telekom Austria group, has announced the launch of faster fixed broadband DSL internet services over VDSL technology. VIPnet said its new packages are available to all new and existing customers in VDSL coverage areas with the installation of a new VDSL modem, including ‘Duo’ and ‘Trio’ multi-service package users. Prices for VDSL packages are identical to those of existing ADSL services.

VIPnet also announced a fixed telephony promotion open until 31 December 2013, with customers activating certain fixed telephony package options receiving a 50% discount on the following three months’ monthly fees. One option, ‘Option Europe’ costs HRK69 (USD12.25) per month for unlimited international call minutes to fixed and mobile networks in 35 European countries.

Meanwhile, several other Croatian alternative fixed network operators are also expected to launch VDSL this month via the local loops of incumbent T-Hrvatski Telekom (T-HT), including GTS Slovakia.
