TTK taps Cisco for 100Gbps ULH DWDM network

16 Oct 2013

Russian fixed line giant TransTeleCom (TTK) has announced the commercial launch of its 100Gbps Ultra Long Haul (ULH) dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) network in the St Petersburg-Moscow and Moscow-Chelyabinsk-Yekaterinburg segments. The coherent optical technology, which has been deployed by Cisco Systems, increases the backbone network capacity from 40Gbps to 100Gbps per optical carrier. To date around 20% of the infrastructure has been deployed, equivalent to around 3,000km. Successful completion of the project is expected to help ensure consistently high connection quality for TTK’s corporate and private customers.
