Telecom Italia Sparkle (TIS) says that mobile customers of TIM Participacoes (TIM Brasil) and Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) will soon be able to benefit from high quality 4G roaming when travelling between Brazil and Italy, thanks to the implementation of its Long Term Evolution (LTE) ‘Diameter Signaling’ service. TIS is Telecom Italia Group’s international operator and has already developed a global IPX network with LTE roaming peering agreements spanning from Europe to North America and Asia. Going forward, TIM and TIM Brasil will make LTE roaming available to their respective end customers in 2014. TIS’s press release reads: ‘TI Sparkle has developed a top quality LTE Roaming Exchange service based on a state-of-the-art and largely interconnected global IPX platform providing seamless IP private connections among operators who are able to offer their own mobile subscribers the same quality of service as in their home network, while roaming … IPX offers a next generation alternative to the internet that combines the flexibility and efficiency of the IP world with the security and reliability of traditional networks. This is particularly significant for network operators as they transition to an all-IP environment to capture efficiencies and support new services such as LTE roaming, Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE), HD voice and video, IP videoconferencing and IMS/RCS-based enhanced communication applications.’
