DoCoMo Pacific launches TV Everywhere service

11 Oct 2013

DoCoMo Pacific, a provider of fixed, mobile and broadband services in Guam, has announced the launch of TV Everywhere, a service which enables its cable TV customers to watch programmes on other devices such as PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones. The new offering is available to all DoCoMo Pacific cable TV subscribers in Guam for no additional charge. ‘The launch of TV Everywhere service marks a new phase in home entertainment by giving our customers unprecedented access to their favourite cable shows on most of their wireless devices,’ stated Thomas Higa, chief marketing officer for DoCoMo Pacific, adding: ‘Our customers will have access to 14 television channels from DoCoMo Pacific’s line-up and we will definitely be adding more channels as we continue to enhance the service.’

TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that DoCoMo Pacific’s Japanese parent NTT DoCoMo completed the acquisition of Guam-based cable company MCV Broadband in May this year. The Japanese firm agreed to buy MCV from Seaport Capital in August 2012, and the USD129.8 million deal received approval from the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) the following December. NTT DoCoMo said the move would enable its Guam wireless subsidiary ‘to offer MCV’s cable television, internet and fixed line phone services under its own brand as a one-stop quadruple play [package].’
