Telenor Norge to roll out 2,000 more base stations as 4G customer numbers rise

10 Oct 2013

Norway’s largest cellco by subscribers, Telenor Norge, has outlined plans to construct a further 2,000 3G/4G base stations as uptake of its LTE-based services continues to climb. Confirming that its LTE infrastructure now covers 45% of the population, Telenor has said it expects this figure to increase to 50% by the end of 2013, while by 2015 it is aiming to have nine out of ten Norwegians within its network footprint. Meanwhile, with Telenor Norge having inaugurated its 4G services in October 2012, one year on from launch the operator has now revealed that around 400,000 subscribers have signed up to its LTE-based services.
