Orange France postpones copper switch-off in Palaiseau until 2018

10 Oct 2013

Orange France, the country’s largest telco in terms of subscribers, has announced that the switch-off of its copper network in the town of Palaiseau has been postponed with five years to 31 October 2018, as the copper network ‘lasted longer than expected’, Les Echos reports. In October 2012 the town was selected for an all-fibre network migration trial; according to a company press release published at the time, all 17,000 inhabitants (including businesses) were to be encouraged to migrate to a 100% fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network within twelve months.
