Bell Aliant increases Northern Ontario FTTH coverage

Bell Aliant has announced an extension of its ‘FibreOP’ fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network to Temiskaming Shores and Cobalt in Northern Ontario, providing faster internet up to 250Mbps/30Mbps (down/upload), IPTV and landline packages. Bell Aliant has invested approximately CAD68.5 million (USD66.0 million) in FibreOP rollouts in Northern Ontario to date, covering 120,000 homes in areas including Greater Sudbury, North Bay, Timmins and Sault Ste. Marie. The latest CAD2.5 million rollout in Temiskaming Shores and Cobalt covers 5,000 premises, with services in the two communities offered under the branding of Bell Aliant subsidiary NorthernTel (‘NorthernTel FibreOP’). FibreOP is currently available to more than 725,000 homes and businesses in more than 60 communities across Atlantic Canada and Ontario.
