Taiwanese WiMAX operator Vee TIME has inked a deal with Israel-based vendor Telrad Networks under which the latter will deploy its fully integrated WiMAX technology to provide flexible wireless internet, voice and data access to the operator’s subscribers in northern Taiwan. As per the terms of the ‘multi-million dollar’ agreement, Telrad will supply equipment and services with a view to enabling expanded coverage from 350 base station sites.

Speaking on the deal, Vee TIME chairman Richard Lai said: ‘As a valued technology partner, Telrad is helping us realise our vision of wireless convergence, delivering quad-play services, while strengthening our leadership position in the telecom market,’ adding: ‘Telrad equipment provides a simple upgrade solution for migration from WiMAX Advanced to TD-LTE. This key feature strongly supports our future growth plans, while protecting our current investment.’
