STC boosts its network capacity by 30%

Saudi Telecom Company (STC), the country’s leading mobile operator in terms of subscribers, has announced that its network capacity had been expanded by 30% to accommodate the needs of more than 31 million users, Zawya reports. Abdulaziz Al-Sugair, STC’s chairman and managing director, said: ‘We have increased the number of working international circuits between Saudi Arabia and the rest of the world to 195,000, especially in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The network can process more than five terabytes simultaneously’. Further, the company has added 296 Wi-Fi hotspots in Mina, a neighbourhood of Mecca in Makkah Province, and boosted the download speeds in the area to a maximum of 42Mbps.
