Regional telecoms operator NetCologne has announced plans to roll out a high speed fibre-optic network across Eitorf, a municipality of the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia, in cooperation with utility firm RWE Deutschland. The Cologne-based company claims that around 6,200 households and 300 businesses will be able to access the new network, which will provide maximum download speeds of up to 50Mbps. The first customer connections are expected to be activated in autumn 2014.
