Canada’s Telus has announced that it will launch ‘Telus Link’, its next generation Push To Talk (PTT) service over its 3G HSPA and 4G LTE networks as well as via Wi-Fi in mid-October. Telus Link offers instant ‘walkie-talkie’ (one click) voice communication with an individual or a team as well as standard wireless service, enabling connections between work groups in less than one second regardless of individual location. Roaming is offered in the US and around the world with enhanced coverage via PTT over Wi-Fi. The new PTT service is compatible with all modern smartphone operating systems and is intended to eventually replace Telus’ legacy ‘Mike’ service, which is the segment leader. Telus Link is particularly aimed at Canadian industry sectors such as construction, transport, energy, utilities and manufacturing, with incentive offers for existing Mike customers making the switch to the new generation service.
