Sky Mobile widens 3.5G footprint

Kyrgyz mobile operator Sky Mobile, which provides services under the Beeline brand, has announced that it has expanded its 3.5G network in six of the country’s regions. New base stations have been rolled out in a number of locations in Issyk Kul, Jalal-Abad, Talas, Naryn, Batken and Osh. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database states that Sky Mobile launched its 3.5G HSPA+ network – the first of its kind in Kyrgyzstan – in central districts of Bishkek on 1 December 2010. In February 2011 services were expanded outside of the capital and before being gradually introduced to parts of all seven provinces, with Naryn and Talas the final two to gain coverage in February 2012.
