26 Sep 2013

Tishkent, a WiMAX operator based in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region, has enlisted Swedish telecoms vendor Ericsson to deploy a Time Division Duplex Long Term Evolution (TDD-LTE) network in north-eastern Kurdistan. The deployment will include RBS 6000 base transceiver stations (BTS) and Ericsson’s Evolved Packet Core network. Firia Ali, CEO at Tishknet, commented: ‘We have pioneered forward thinking technology in Iraq since 2011 … The Kurdistan Region is one of the country’s most active business hubs and we hope to roll out the service across other regions in the near future’.
