Telemach upgrades optical core network with Transmode

25 Sep 2013

Slovenian triple-play cableco Telemach has deployed a new high capacity fibre-optic transmission network linking the capital Ljubljana with other major Slovenian centres Maribor and Celje and forming part of an international link to Graz and Vienna in Austria, based on WDM technology and providing 10Gbps Ethernet services that can scale to 100Gbps when needed. The new 80-channel network, provided by Stockholm-based Transmode using its ROADM-based Flexible Optical Network solution and TM-Series platform, was built in parallel to Telemach’s existing core optical infrastructure and began carrying live traffic on 27 August, after which the older network was decommissioned. Telemach is part of the United Group which also provides multi-service cable broadband networks in Serbia and Bosnia plus business data services across several other countries in the Adriatic region, and Transmode says it is now the primary optical networking provider to the whole of the group.
