Tigo Tanzania plans to deploy 209 new cell sites

Tigo Tanzania, a unit of Millicom International Cellular (MIC), is investing in the rollout of 209 new cell sites across the country, as it looks to bolster its coverage and service quality there. To support the network expansion drive, the cellco has launched its ‘Smile Tour’, which will be deployed to more than ten regions in a bid to drum up new users where Tigo hopes to widen its reach and strengthen its presence.

Tigo general manager Diego Gutierrez says that the areas targeted under the expansion drive include the deployment of 24 towers in Kagera, 20 towers in Mbeya, 17 towers in Mwanza, 16 towers in Dodoma, 14 towers in Shinyanga, 13 towers in Rukwa, eleven towers in Morogoro, ten towers in Pwani, Zanzibar and in Dar es Salaam, nine towers in Mtwara, eight towers in each of Lindi and Tanga, seven towers in Tabora, five in each of Kilimanjaro, Ruvuma, Iringa and in Arusha, and finally four in Singida, Kigoma and in Manyara.
