EC to present much-heralded telecom sector reform plan to MPs

11 Sep 2013

The European Commission (EC) will tomorrow present its ambitious plan to reform the continent’s telecoms industry to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, with specific aims including abolishing roaming charges across European Union (EU) states and stimulating investment in the wider European telecoms sector. The plan is designed to establish a single EU-wide market for the telecoms sector, but falls short of proposing a single pan-European watchdog. The regulatory proposals are launched today (11 September 2013) in the State of the Union speech from EC President Jose Manuel Barroso.
