Axtel announces eighth FTTH market

9 Sep 2013

Mexican telco Axtel has launched its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the city of Leon, enabling it to offer broadband internet and pay-TV services to a further 60,000 homes and businesses, Telesemana reports. Leon is Axtel’s eighth FTTH market, and the launch comes after a USD27 million network investment programme in the city. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Axtel is Mexico’s largest alternative telephony operator and among Latin America’s leading exponents of fixed wireless access (FWA) technology. Axtel’s focus has now switched to its in-deployment fibre-optic network, following the launch of its first FTTH services in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey in October 2010.
