A total of 1,576 LTE-enabled antennas in the Netherlands

4 Sep 2013

The Netherlands’ Antenne bureau has published its monthly report on the number of GSM, UMTS and Long Term Evolution (LTE) antennas deployed in the country, reporting that Dutch mobile operators have deployed a total of 1,576 LTE antennas by end-August 2013, corresponding to 349 net additions in the month under review. Meanwhile, the number of UMTS antennas decreased by 111 to 12,236. The growth in the number of LTE base stations can be attributed to the recent rollout of Vodafone Netherland’s 4G services. As reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, on 5 August 2013 Vodafone Netherlands launched its LTE network in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht.
